Kingdom Name: The Ebony City-States
Kingdom's Culture (ie, French): The Ebony City-States are intensely proud of their way of life. They believe in the right of the individual, and have tried their hardest to cast out the barbaric ways that ruled them in the past. Philosophy has become a makeshift religion for the common people, and the mind is a central focus of daily life. Even with the focus on the individual, many people in the city-states rely on their government for many things. It provides protection, food, and shelter, and for those reasons the citizens' lives are centered around government. Money is seen as a good measure of a person's character: the more wealth he or she has, the more moral and just they must be. Many social projects were funded by wealthy merchants in the hopes that the public would see them as good and just. In Kindaritzia, the Great Forum is the location where the elected members of the government meet, open to all commoners to see. All elected officials run on the platform of a particular view of philosophy. No one "party" has any power in the government, so each individual representative is important for all laws to be passed. The presider is chosen randomly from all elected officials, and holds the position for five years, or one term. The people of the Ebony City-States are wary of any outside influences corrupting them, and therefore try to keep themselves separate from other nations. If they feel threatened, they will not hesitate to defend themselves, or preemptively attack.

He opposes the wealthier members of society, and believes that equality should be something strived for by all people. For that reason, he is always willing to work with members from the countryside, or from Jonpalino, to improve conditions for the poor.

Kingdom History:
-- After a great war destroyed the country, the major cities of the Ebony City-States were left isolated and in dire stress. Barbarians constantly ravaged farms and mines, and plagues were common. Eventually, the the barbarians overran the major cities, and chaos ruled. For a hundred years, order was unattainable, until the barbarian king Giuliano Leone was assassinated, and the people revolted. In each city new governments formed, most notably a Republic in Kindaritzia, and a Plutocracy in the nearby city of Jonpalino. Eventually, when the two cities became stable once again, they grew aware of each other's presence, and both felt threatened by the other's way of life. Soon, war broke out, with the wealthy of Jonpalino hiring mercenaries to battle the uniform, black-clad guards of Kindaritzia. It was during this time that philosophers began asking moral and ethical questions of the way of life. They were very popular, and it seemed that they favored the view of the Republic of Kindaritzia, that citizenship is something granted to all people, not just those born in high power. Those thoughts influenced the people, and the mercenaries hired by the Jonpalino actually refused to fight for such an unethical cause. The dark warriors of the Kindaritzia marched into Jonpalino to the cheers of the masses. The noble families ruling Jonpalino were killed, and the two cities reunited for the first time in hundreds of years. Since then, philosophy has constantly evolved, as well as science and the arts. The government of the City-States support all three, as they know that informed citizens will make the Republic stronger.
